Ed Note

To Tell the Truth.

Someone, I can’t remember who, said (I’m paraphrasing) “most people tell the truth most of the time, otherwise society as we know it could not exist.”  I would like to make the case that all Real Estate Brokers and Agents should tell the truth all the time.

  1. It is morally the right thing to do.
  2. It is the law.
  3. It is good business practice.

Any one of these three reasons is enough to justify complete truthfulness.

  • It is morally the right thing to do.  Besides, knowing that we have been truthful gives us a good feeling, which can promote both physical and mental health.

  • It is the law.  Real Estate practice is highly regulated by federal and state laws, and being truthful can go a long way toward keeping a clean license, and keeping us out of court – both civil and criminal.

  • It is good business practice.  I’m convinced that being truthful all the time results in more business and more income.  Being known as trustworthy is a valuable asset in our profession, and the best way to be known as trustworthy is to always be trustworthy.

Because it is right, because it is the law, and because it is good business, it is a good idea for all Real Estate Professionals to tell the truth all the time.

Some Sound Home Advice

Should you talk to a mortgage professional before house hunting?

By Claudia Pulido

Absolutely! Even if you haven't so much as picked out houses to visit yet, it's important to see your mortgage professional first. Why? What can we do for you if you haven't negotiated a price, and don't know yet how much you want to borrow?

When we pre-qualify you, we help you determine how much of a monthly mortgage payment you can afford, and how much we can loan you. We do this by considering your income and debts, your employment and residence situations, your available funds for down payment and required reserves, and some other things. It's short and to the point, and we keep the paperwork to a minimum!

Once you qualify, we give you what's called a Pre-Qualification Letter (your real estate agent might call it a "pre-qual"), which says that we are working with you to find the best loan to meet your needs and that we're confident you'll qualify for a loan for a certain amount.

When you find a house that catches your eye, and you decide to make an offer, being pre-qualified for a mortgage will do a couple of things. First, it lets you know how much you can offer. Your real estate agent will help you decide on an appropriate offer, but being pre-qualified gives you the confidence to know you can follow through.

More importantly, to a home seller, your being pre-qualified is like you walked into their house with a suitcase full of cash to make the deal! They won't have to wonder if they're wasting their time because you'll never qualify for a mortgage to finance the amount you're offering for the home. You have the clout of a buyer ready to make the deal right now!

You can always use the calculators available on our site to get an idea of how much mortgage you can afford -- but it's important to meet with us. For one thing, you'll need a Pre-Qualification Letter! For another thing, we may be able to find a different mortgage program that fits your needs better.  Article provided by Shore Financial Group

I’m committed to finding the right loan to fit your individual needs!

A Place of Worship

Dan Warsinger PhotographyPhoto of Yosemite Valley Chapel

Yosemite Chapel

.

The first service was held on June 7, 1879, and the church was filled to overflowing by delegates to the National Sunday School Assemble meeting in Yosemite Valley at that time.  The first organ in the chapel was given by Miss Mary Porter of Philadelphia in memory of Florence Hutchings.  Florence was the unofficial, but faithful caretaker of the chapel during the summer of 1879-1881.  She died in a climbing accident at the tender age of 17.

In 1887, on the death of President Grant, a memorial service was held in the chapel and the organist for the day, playing the Florence Hutchings memorial organ, was Sir Arthur Sullivan, famed composer and collaborator with Sir William Gilbert in the famous Gilbert and Sullivan light operas.  Sir Arthur was visiting in the Valley at the time and was asked to assist in the service.

The original location of the structure was on rising ground near the base of the Four Mile trail, a mile or so down the Valley from its present site on the south side of Yosemite Valley.  In the passage of years, the old church, built in the midst of a busy community, lost one by one its companion buildings, until with the moving on of community activity to other parts of the Valley, it stood alone.  In 1901, it was taken down and moved to its present site. It was given Historic American building status by the National Park Service in 1965.  Following this, its interior was restored and a new foundation was placed under it.

The little chapel continues to serve as a place of worship for residents and visitors alike, as it has done for over 100 years.

What’s Happening

Over the past five years, Sierra Art Trails has grown to become the largest and most anticipated annual arts event in the Yosemite Foothills!  The show is focused on the communities of Eastern Madera and Mariposa counties.  In 2006 the show featured 116 artists and artisans working in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, woodcarving, ceramics, and more! Sierra Art Trails is an open studio tour that gives art enthusiasts the chance to see fine art and fine crafts in the making, and to get a first hand view of how artists live and work.  By attending the show you are not only supporting the arts, you are also benefiting our foothills communities by helping us to make the area a place that people look forward to visiting.  Please join us! www.sierraarttrails.org
